The Jenex Corporation Announces
THE JENEX CORPORATION (“Jenex” or the “Corporation”) (TSX Venture Exchange – JEN), Michael Jenkins, President and CEO of Jenex reports the Company has received positive results from recently conducted tests on the West Nile Virus (WNV). At management’s request, in vitro tests were conducted by an internationally recognized health care agency, which determined the WNV is highly sensitive to heat. The examiner concluded the WNV was significantly reduced after ten minutes of the heat application and no virus was detected after thirty minutes. Jenex’s patented Thermal Therapy technology operates within the temperature range that was determined to inactivate the West Nile Virus.
“We are pleased with the early results from these tests” say Jenkins, “however, as positive as these results are, we need to emphasize, the results are preliminary. We are preparing for additional testing to determine if our Therapik® device can be effective in inactivating the virus.”
The Therapik® device is a Class II medical device that is indicated for the relief of the pain, itch, and inflammation from over 20,000 different insect stings and bites, including (ie. bees, wasps, hornets, mosquitoes, black flies, jelly fish). Therapik® received approval for the above claims from FDA (United States) in 1997 and HBP (Canada) in 1996.
Jenex has also proven their patented technology effective against HSV-1, the herpes virus that causes cold sores. In 2000, the Corporation received approval to make the following claim in Canada: “ For prevention and relief of the symptoms of herpes labialis (cold sores), such as blistering, lesions, inflammation, and discomfort. Also helps alleviate the embarrassment that typically is associated with herpes labialis (cold sore) out breaks.”
The Corporation is planning the launch of their cold sore prevention device later this year in Canada. For more information visit their website at www.jenexcorp.com .
