THE JENEX CORPORATION (www.JenexCorp.com), ("Jenex" or the "Corporation") (TSX - JEN), is pleased to announce the addition of Sherry Torkos, B. Sc. Phm. to its Corporate Advisory Committee. Ms. Torkos is a practicing pharmacist and the author of several health care books and numerous articles for professional and consumer health care publications. Ms. Torkos has received several national pharmacy awards for providing excellence in patient care. In addition, she is a sought after Radio and Television personality and well-known guest lecturer. Ms. Torkos will play an integral role in the Canadian launch of Jenex’s non-prescription device that prevents the outbreak of cold sores. She will assist in the development of the professional and consumer educational programs necessary to communicate the proven product benefits of our cold sore prevention device. Ms. Torkos has previous Advisory Board experience with Abbott Laboratories and Hoffman-LaRoche. Ms. Torkos graduated cum laude from the renowned Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
About The Jenex Corporation Headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, the Corporation has developed and patented a thermal therapeutic device for the prevention of cold sores. Patents in fifteen countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and the E.E.C protect the technology. The Corporation, while working on clearance to market in the USA, is pursuing a qualified consumer products and/or pharmaceutical company to license their technology and market their cold sore prevention device for the Canadian market. Jenex has clearance to market the cold sore device in Canada with their approved claim “For prevention and relief of the symptoms of herpes labialis (cold sores), such as blistering, lesions, inflammation, and discomfort. Also helps alleviate the embarrassment that is typically associated with herpes labialis (cold sore) outbreaks”.
Regulatory approvals will be pursued for Europe and Australia.
The HSV-1 virus that causes cold sores, is endemic in North America, and is estimated to affect 80% of the population. As the only product clinically proven to prevent the outbreak of cold sores, the Corporation's thermal therapy product has the potential to dominate a large and underdeveloped market.
