THE JENEX CORPORATION GRANTS WORLDWIDE LICENSE TO
DISTRIBUTE AND SELL THERAPIK DEVICE
Burlington, Ontario – The Jenex Corporation (“Jenex” or the “Corporation”) (TSX Venture Exchange: JEN, Frankfurt: JNX) announced today that is has signed a worldwide license agreement with Connecticut based Competitive Technologies (AMEX: CTT) to distribute and sell the Corporations patented Therapik thermal-therapy device, worldwide.
The agreement provides CTT with certain Exclusive and Non-Exclusive territories worldwide. For Territory Exclusivity to be maintained, minimum purchase order commitments of USD $3.9 Million in gross Therapik sales must be received by Jenex from CTT and their clients in the first three years. Further, CTT has the opportunity to establish additional exclusive territories World Wide with the approval of Jenex. All new exclusive agreements will require minimum purchase commitments to receive and maintain the exclusivity on a territory-by-territory basis.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (510-k), the Canadian Therapeutic Products Directorate (TPD), as well as CE in Europe approves the device. Patents in the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe protect Therapik.
“Therapik is an exceptional product that will now be a significant contributor to the Corporations top and bottom line”, says Michael Jenkins, President and CEO of Jenex. “We are very optimistic about this new relationship with CTT and believe they have the resources and the experience to execute this plan and exceed their minimum commitments”.
“We find several markets in the world are very receptive to the Therapik thermal-therapy device. We are in final negotiations with several major distributors and expect to announce agreements shortly, said Ted Kutrumbos, a member of the CTT Business Development team.
The Therapik thermal therapy device is small, portable, hand-held and battery powered. It delivers heat to a localized area of the body in order to relieve pain associated with stings from species that deliver thermolabile venom. Up to 20,000 species of insects and sea creatures are known to have thermolabile venom that may be destroyed by the application of heat. The most common sources of painful venomous stings are hymenopterous insects such as wasps, bees and hornets, and sea creatures such as jellyfish, weaver fish and scorpion fish. The pain from such stings is produced by the release of histamine by cells in the organism that has been stung. Prompt destruction or inactivation of the venom interrupts the release of histamine, thus preventing or relieving the discomfort of the sting. In addition, the soothing heat also provides effective relief from the itching and irritation due to flea and mosquito bites and contact with stinging nettles.
